Surfing at Steamers Lane, Santa Cruz, California This plein air painting was done on the bluff overlooking the world renowned surf break called "Steamers Lane" in Santa Cruz. Right on West Cliff Drive just north of the Santa Cruz Wharf one can find some of the best surf anywhere. I painted this while watching my nephew from South Africa surfing - it was a calm day by Steamers Lane standards but it was still a lot of fun to watch the surfers enjoying the April sunshine as I painted.
